Group hacked by Ayyıldız Tim, which declares its next mission as hacking Russian ministries' websites

World Bulletin / News Desk
The Anonymous hacker group has itself been hacked by a Turkish group, Ayyıldız Tim, which previously hacked websites of the United States and Israel.

As the Anonymous website hacked by the team, viewers see the message, "This website is hacked by Ayyıldız Tim" followed by the Turkish flag and the image of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Turkey.

After the hacking, the founder of the group said that they wanted to retaliate against Anonymous for trying to humiliate Turkey.

The founder of Ayyıldız Tim who said that this hacking took 20 days, also expressed their intention of hacking Anonymous for its claims that Turkey supports ISIL.

The Turkish group stated that their next mission is hacking the websites of Russian ministries , particularly the website of the Defense Ministry of Russia.
The recent move of Ayyıldız Tim followed the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks which has been plaguing Turkish websites since 14 December.

During the period, access to as many as 400,000 Turkish websites was disabled after the attacks.

The main suspect in the attack is Russia, which increased tension with extensive economic sanctions against Turkey over the downing of its warplane in November for violating its airspace.

The suspicion gained strength with the statement of the hacker group Anonymous, which claimed responsibility for the attacks, but added that their campaign was against Turkey, which downed a Russian jet.

Hacker Discovers 191 Million American Voters’ Database Leak

Short Bytes: Recently an open US voter database leak was discovered by Chris Vickery, a white hat hacker. This database contains information about 191 million US citizens including their personal information. Agencies responsible for campaigns which require users database deny the act. FBI has been informed about the same situation lately.
Adatabase containing registration information about 191 million American citizens and various pieces of personal information was recently uncovered by a whitehat hacker. It is said that it happened due to the misconfiguration of the database which was left open for the access.
Researcher Chris Vickery, uncovered this database which was left open for everyone to access. In his conversation with Forbes, he says he got access to almost 300GB of voter data including names, home addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, party affiliations, and logs of whether or not they had voted in primary or general elections. However, this database does not contain any financial information or any information related to social security number.
Chris Vickery, after discovering the open database, verified the authenticity of it by looking up for his own information in the database table and also looking up for the information about the several police officers in his city of Texas. Just to reverify after not believing himself, he put in his parents name and to his surprise, it was there in the database with a flash of seconds.
Later to verify the company which is responsible for the setting up digital campaigns for the political parties, Vickery chased NationBuilder believing that certain markers in the database pointed to a NationBuilder-designed database. However, A NationBuilder spokesperson denied by saying that the IP address linked to the leaked database was not one of theirs, and the IP address was not related to any of their hosted clients.
Well, it could then be a non-hosted NationBuilder customer, responsible for the misconfiguration. The provider’s CEO Jim Gilliam said,
“It is possible that some of the information it contains may have come from data we make available for free to campaigns. From what we’ve seen, the voter information included is already publicly available from each state government so no new or private information was released in this database. We strongly believe in making voter information more accessible to political campaigns and advocacy groups, so we provide cleaned versions of that publicly accessible information to them for free.”
As of now no one has taken the responsibility for the leak. The FBI New York field office and Internet Crime Complaint Center were contacted and Vickery too.
So, what do you think about such casual act of playing around with common people in US? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.

2 Anonymous Hacks Asia Pacific Telecommunity Against Internet Censorship in Asia

12:37:00 PM Under From Admin
[2 Comment]
Anonymous hacker collective has attacked the official website of Asia Pacific telecommunity and defaced it in protest against growing plans for internet censorship in Asia.
The hackers gained access of the website’s admin panel (running Drupal) and from there, leaked all the data stored on the website along with defacing the site with one of their own pages.

In an exclusive conversation with one of the Anonymous hackers behind the attack, HackRead was told that:
During recent years, many Asian countries have increased censorship following the Chinese government’s lead. Thailand has been one of the active countries, but other countries are not far away. In the last couple of months, Anonymous hacked CAT Telecom Pcl, the premier telecommunication website of Thailand and National Police server against Internet censorship.

Recently, China’s president (Xi Jinping), in a World Internet conference, emphasized on censorship being the right of every country.
In the same conference, the organization responsible for managing domain names, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) promised full support in working on the new internet plan in which Chinese officials will have stronger say on how the organization works.
ICANN will be taking over IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) which is currently run by the US government and with that move Chinese government will be able to monitor the internet all around the world. This move will certainly make internet users nervous.
Anonymous, in order to draw the attention of the people, defaced the Asian community website and left the message on the website and YouTube for people to ponder on. With that, they also leaked data like emails, usernames, and hashed passwords on the website.
Though, this will not stop ICANN or the Chinese government from progressing with their plans but it will certainly create awareness among the general public regarding the world of internet’s new order.
At the time of publishing this article, the targeted website was still hacked.
